SHILOH -- Nellie L. Egner, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital after a short illness. She was born December 7, 1914, daughter of the late Morrell R. and Leola Chambers Enzor on the farm where she has lived most of her life. She attended Lone Elm one-room school that was located on her family's farm. She attended Butler Township High School in Adario, where her class of 10 graduated in 1931. She was a 1933 graduate of Ashland College, where she received her teaching certificate. Mrs. Egner later completed her education degree from Ashland College. She had taught at Butler School, Kuhn School in Plymouth Township, Forest Hall, Hickory Hall, Pleasant Grove and Shenandoah, all one-room schools. Then taught at Old Woodville on Cook Road, Greenwich Centralized and Shelby Central Schools until she married Howard J. Egner on June 22, 1940, a classmate she had graduated with. Mrs. Egner and her husband moved to Mansfield where she taught the 3rd and 4th grades for 23 years at Woodland School until she retired in 1974. Mrs. Egner's elementary teaching career covered 41 years. She was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, Shiloh, O.E.S. Althea Chapter #438 Monroeville, a member of the Ohio, North Central and Mansfield Education Association and was active in Butler Township Farmers Institute for many years. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Bob and Beverly Enzor, Mike and Janet Enzor, Dave and Jenice Gallaway, Bud and Dotty Tennis, Bill and Dana Fast, Vaughn and Stephanie Tennis; 16 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Egner in 1985, a brother, David Enzor and a sister, Nina Tennis. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Pastor Diana Seaman. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Butler Township, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, P.O. Box, 273, Shiloh, OH 44878.

MANSFIELD -- Ruby Rachel Fowler Egner, 95, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at Lexington Court Care Center after a long illness. She was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Fremont, to Chester and Hettie Roberts Fowler. She moved to Richland County as a small child to a farm now known as Fowler Woods State Nature Preserve. She graduated in 1931 from Adario High School and was the last surviving member of her 10-member graduating class. She eloped with Thomas S. Egner and was married April 14, 1933, in Wheeling, W.Va. Mrs. Egner retired from J.C. Penney Co. An accomplished seamstress, she loved her family and her cats, especially enjoyed frequent trips to the old farm. She found pleasure in anything related to being outdoors with the plants and animals, particularly bird watching. She is survived by a son, Donald H. Egner of Lake Worth, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and John Domer of Mansfield and R. Carolyn and Louis King of Crestline; eight grandchildren, Brenda (Steve) Nadler and Beth (David) Zinn of Mansfield, Anna (Brad) Wade of Crestline, Donalyn (Tony) Tanner of Galion, Amy (Paul) Ornosky of Zanesville, Marcia (Tracy) Mattern of Medina, John (Cathleen) Domer of South Bass Island, and Kenneth (Tammie) King of Westminster, Md.; two step granddaughters, Dawn (Rick Dickerson) Wharton and Debbie (Robert) Wise, all of Bellville; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson; a brother, James C. Fowler of Tucson, Ariz.; and a niece and nephew.
